Frame Program

Day 1Warsaw - Sightseeing the Old Town

Arrival in Warsaw. Transfer to hotel and check-in. In the afternoon, we will see the sights of Warsaw, a city of busy traffic routes, historical palaces, churches, monuments, enchanting boulevards and gardens. The programme includes an evening stroll in the Old Town (Warsaw’s Castle Square surrounded by townhouses, the Royal Castle, Sigismund’s Column and the Market Place with the Warsaw Mermaid Statue). Dinner in one of the restaurants in the Old Town to the accompaniment of classical music. Return to the hotel for the night.

Day 2 Warsaw - In the footsteps of Frederic Chopin

After breakfast, we meet our guide and see the sights related to the life and work of the great composer. The sightseeing starts with a visit to the Royal Baths Park, the former summer residence of the last King of Poland. Also, a stroll in a romantic park which features Frédéric Chopin’s Statue, and a visit to the Palace on the Island.

Optionally: Participation in a piano concert at the Royal Baths Park.

In the afternoon we visit the Old Town. The sightseeing includes the Czapski Palace which houses the Chopin Family’s Salon, where the composer spent the last few years before leaving the country. Then we move to the Holy Cross Church where in the left part of the main nave lies Chopin’s heart, brought, according to his will, to Warsaw after his death. This site is marked with a memorial plaque devoted to Chopin. Then we visit the Ostrogski Castle which is home to the Chopin Museum. The Museum holds numerous documents and memorabilia related to Frédéric Chopin, musical and epistolary manuscripts and subsequent editions of his works. After the sightseeing, we attend a piano recital in the Ostrogski Castle’s concert hall. Dinner in a restaurant and return to the hotel for the night.


Day 3 Warsaw - Żelazowa Wola - Sanniki - Poznań

Breakfast. We travel to Żelazowa Wola, a village visited by great numbers of fans of Frédéric Chopin’s music. Here stands the house where the brilliant Polish composer was born. The renovated 18th century manor houses a small museum featuring copies of documents, portraits, decorative fabrics, musical instruments and furniture preserved in the period style. After the sightseeing, we attend a Chopin music concert. We then travel to the village of Sanniki and visit the Frédéric Chopin Palace and Park Complex. Visit to the Frédéric Chopin Memorial Centre, the collection of which includes numerous exhibits related to the life and works of the composer, and a stroll in the Palace Park along the line of trees remembering the young Chopin’s stays in Sanniki at the house of his parents’ close friends. After the visit, we travel to Poznan.. Check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

 


Day 4 Poznań: Old Town

sights situated at the following route: Town Hall, Prozerpina fountain, Pillory, town houses, Apollo Fountain, Parish Church, one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Poland. At noon we see the city symbol, - the Poznań goats. Free time for dinner. Next we visit the Museum of Musical Instruments where we can admire interesting collections of unique instruments from the best renowned workshops in the 18th and 19th century, including folk instruments from all over the world, wind and lute instruments, collection of 170 pianos and grand pianos. A part of the exhibition is devoted to the memorabilia related to Frédéric Chopin’s stay in the Wielkopolska Region. In the afternoon, free time for individual exploration of the city’s beauties. In the evening, supper in a restaurant in the Old Town. Stay in the hotel for the night.


Day 5 Poznań - Antonin - Wrocław

Breakfast. Check-out of the hotel. We leave for Wrocław. On our way, we visit the neo Gothic castle in Kórnik, one of the most beautiful edifices of this type in the Wielkopolska Region. Then we travel to Antonin to visit the wooden manor of the Radziwiłł Princes where Chopin gave concerts in the years 1827 and 1829. Dinner in the palace restaurant, and then Chopin concert in an original drawing room in the shape of a rotunda with encircling galleries. After the concert, we continue our journey to Wrocław. We arrive at the hotel and check in. An evening stroll on the wonderfully lit Main Market Square in Wrocław. Supper and overnight stay.


Day 6 Wrocław - Duszniki Zdrój

Breakfast. We check out of the hotel, meet the guide and start exploration of the beauties of Wrocław, the capital of Lower Silesia named the “city of a hundred bridges.” A stroll in the Old Town’s Main Market Square with the Gothic Town Hall, and a visit to the Leopold Hall in the Baroque building of the University. Then we drive to Ostrów Tumski island where we can admire the complex of sacral buildings with the Gothic Cathedral of St. John the Baptist dating back to the 13th - 16th centuries. Then we travel to Duszniki Zdrój, a town which owes its present popularity to Frédéric Chopin. The composer stayed in Duszniki in 1826 for treatment purposes, and gave two charity concerts at that time. Chopin’s stay at the resort is commemorated by a classicist manor, Frédéric Chopin’s Manor. We visit the resort’s Pump Room, and stroll in the romantic park with the colourfully illuminated fountain whose waters rise up to 40 m. After the sightseeing, we travel to the hotel and check in. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

2). Visit to Poland’s Museum of Papermaking


Day 7 Departure
Breakfast. Free time for individual walks and shopping. Departure for the airport (Wrocław, Katowice or Cracow). Return flight.
