City Breaks
Zakopane City Break

Polish highlanders
The Town of Zakopane is situated at the foot of the Tatra Mountains at an altitude of more than 900 above sea-level at the Zakopianka River, a tributary of the Biały Dunajec River. It is the centre of Polish tourism, winter sports and mountaineering in the summer. Zakopane has developed its own style of wooden housing, furniture and decorative art. The Harenda villa houses the mausoleum of Jan Kasprowicz, a distinguished Polish poet and an enthusiast of Podhale’s beauties.
Zakopane serves as a base camp for expeditions to the Tatra Mountains, which abound in beautiful sights that have inspired poems and symphonies, like the Morskie Oko Lake, Chocholowska Valley, Gąsienicowa and Kondratowa Pastures, Rysy and Giewont Peaks, Czerwone Wierchy and Gubałówka mountains where they can admire breathtaking views of the Tatras. The flora of the Tatra Mountains is also very diverse: in spring the Tatra pastures and valleys turn into carpets of violet crocuses where one can spot brown, lynx, badgers, groundhogs and mountain chamois.
